Happy Autumn Equinox!
The September Equinox marks the exact moment the Sun crosses directly over the Earth's equator heading south, signaling the official start of astronomical fall in the Northern Hemisphere. During this phase, there is equal tilt - the Earth's axis tilts neither toward nor away from the Sun, meaning sunlight hits both hemispheres equally and locations across the globe experience nearly equal lengths of day and night. Following the event, days start to get shorter - the Northern Hemisphere begins tilting away from the Sun, resulting in progressively cooler temperatures, changing leaves and less daily sunlight until the winter solstice.
